first_img1 Naby Keita (right) in action for Guinea during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier Liverpool have already broken their transfer record this summer, and could yet spend even more in pursuit of Naby Keita.Mo Salah arrived from Roma for a club record £37.9m, but the Reds are preparing to almost double that amount to land midfielder Keita from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig.The latest report from The Times’ respected Northern Football Correspondent Paul Joyce reveals Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s determination to bring Keita to Anfield.Joyce claims the Reds are expected to bid up to £70m for the 22-year-old Keita, at the insistence of Klopp, as he prepares for Liverpool’s return to European football.Klopp has urged Liverpool to step up efforts to secure Keita’s signature this summer, and it will take a huge bid to get the Bungesliga runners up to sell.Speaking to German media, RB Leipzig’s sporting director Ralf Rangnick has reiterated the player – who has a £48m release clause that comes into effect in July 2018 – is not for sale at present.But Keita is set for talks with RB Leipzig club officials this week about his future, in light of £130,000-per-week wages being offered by Liverpool.Meanwhile, Leipzig have unveiled their new home kit for the 2017-18 season in an online video, with Keita conspicuous by his absence, fuelling social media gossip that it hints a move to Merseyside is imminent.last_img
