Poem on teenage violence sparks response in youth

first_imgTrust me, it’s worth it if they call you a snitch You might have just saved a life. And if they do the same, it could be up to five Most of youth violence is caused by race, But if you ask me, they are just a disgrace Instead of making their race look good, With every fight, they make it look worse It’s also caused by part of gangs And all just to impress their “fans” At the end, there is no prize Not a reward, but there is a surprise What has two holes and comes in a pair? Handcuffs and an attachment of despair At the end, the graveyard gains a soul All the family gets is an empty hole I’m lucky I haven’t lost anyone yet, But it won’t be too long, I bet I’m praying for the best but preparing for the worst Fun and games come second But family and friends come first I would do anything to keep my friends all well If only there was a way to put them in a protective shell Kids are constantly looking over their shoulder Always afraid to turn the next corner Afraid to be the one who is attacked next It feels like you have been hexed Sons and daughters dead When will they get it through their head? A day without violence is rare, But what isn’t is the scare They just can’t realize that they are ruining lives, Think about the sons, fathers, daughters, wives Now you know what I feel, Just remember that this is real I hope that together we will find a solution To put an end to this confusion By Jonathan Bogna160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong. Youth is a major part of this tragedy So to eliminate it, we need a strategy We can fix it, believe me, it’s true If we work together, me and you If we stop a fight by telling a teach’ Violence kills And all just for people to have their thrills People are affected by this every day And not just physically, in every way last_img read more
